As I travel to different parts of the world, I always come across witnessing how aesthetics change from one place to another, from the structures of the buildings, different sort of plants growing and the culture of the people who occupy that place. Which always brings me back to a quote I came across during by teenage years;
“ Wherever the people who walk on you are good, there you too live well, O Soil – Na. Parthasarathy
This quote reminds me that the aesthetics and richness of a place are largely defined by the people who inhabit it. As culture grows from generation to generation, the heritage and history of a place that remain unchanged by time become treasure for my eyes. They speak of an authenticity uninfluenced by current trends or mass-produced designs prevalent in the world. So, this lodge where I spent a month in Autumn is for sure one of these chronicles. Its beauty has never left my mind, leaving me with no choice but to articulate about it.
Nestled in the heart of England lies Manton, Oakham, a classic village that embodies the essence of traditional English countryside living. As I awaken, I draw back the ethereal white curtains, allowing my gaze to wander through the window. Slowly, the mist unveils the lush green meadow, where flowers and leaves prepare to don their golden autumn attire. Horses, sheep, and cattle move about, fulfilling their daily duties, adding to the picturesque tapestry of the landscape.
The brown broken stone beds and limestone building walls stand in harmonious contrast, while the green-red growing wine veins on the bricks that demand notice, ensuring that even the birds cannot overlook their presence. As I meander through the narrow streets of this timeless region, I am transported to an era long past, where the villagers exude a palpable pride in their heritage. Manton, Oakham, with its rich tapestry of unspoiled charm will forever hold a special place in the depth of my heart.
